The effect architecture of the highest end processors is often overkill yet is dwarfed by the headroom of most of todays software. If you or the person you're running sound for wants some reverb or modulation like rotary, spending an hour in an endless sea of tweaks to create the perfect parameter settings is incredibly pointless and time wasting. The level of parameter control with software is excessive to the point of being useless in 90% of practical music production situations. Now I'm not sure how many instruments you said you own and how much outboard gear you said you own but I own a lot. I've worked with it and it felt like Cake Walk and Cool Edit Pro in a great number of ways. Cubase LE is popular with most guitarists right now. I'm competent with all this software but find most the headroom is beyond excessive and all too consuming. Do you know what overkill is?Ĭubase, Sonic, Fruity Loops, Cake Walk.all are programs which give that word it's definition. That's a lot of subtle attitude from a DJ when it comes to confronting a musician. How bout you get on a messenger program, I get on the same messenger, we hook up our mics and just duke it out on our instruments? Sound as good as any CD you buy in the store. With the proper hardware you can do mutli track studio recording as well as all your editing, mixing and most importantly, mastering.īetween those two programs and my outboard instruments, I'm able to producing industry quality recordings that can be marketed commercially. Cubase is top dog with most serious guitarists right now but I find Cool Edit Pro to have a much better interface. I also use Cool Edit Pro, it's what Cubase and so many other programs are emulating. I got the 2005 version new for about 15 or 20 bucks.
It looks like a kids program but it's truly not. They're VERY sterile looking programs that don't have the simple cut, paste, drag and drop ease that Magix does.
I've used Fruity Loops, Acid, Sound Forge, EVERYTHING, the interface of these programs just sucks. The interface is very video game like, reminiscent of Ejay or even MTV's music generator but it covers all your basses and then some. It has a simple interface anyone can use but the capabilities of it's rivals. Most people will laugh but I've used EVERYTHING and Magix Music Maker Deluxe is by far the best.
